Call for Abstracts for 2012 International Glycoprotein Storage Disease Conference
ISMRD is pleased to announce and call for abstracts for the 2012 International Conference for Glycoprotein Storage Diseases, to be held in N. Charleston, South Carolina, July 28–29 2012.
The Greenwood Genetic Center is the host institution. The glycoproteinoses are Aspartylglucosaminuria, Fucosidosis, Galactosialidosis, alpha-Mannosidosis, beta-Mannosidosis, Mucolipidosis II, Mucolipidosis III, Schindler Disease, and Sialidosis.
These diseases are collectively and individually underrepresented in patient support groups, case reports in the medical literature, and in basic and translational research. A goal of the 2012 International Conference of Glycoproteinoses Scientific Meeting is to bring together experts who approach these conditions from different fields. Researchers, clinicians, and students of all scientific disciplines are invited to submit abstracts describing excellent clinical or laboratory work focused on any of the glycoproteinoses. Participation by graduate and post-doctoral students and fellows is encouraged.
ISMRD’s Scientific Advisory Board will select platform and poster presentations from submitted abstracts. The robust scientific program also includes presentations by invited speakers.
The preliminary agenda includes:
- Contemporary Update on Glycoproteinoses Research Richard Steet, University of Georgia Complex Carbohydrate Research Center
- Translating Science to Therapy for Galactosialidosis Dr Sandra D'Azzo
- Animal Models of Glycoproteinoses found in Nature and in Laboratories - Mark Haskins
- Bone disease - Before, during and after Dysostosis Multiplex Prof. Jules Leroy
- Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant in Glycoproteinoses Troy Lund
