Kathleen's Diary: May 9, 2002

BMT + 37

Robert is still on the ventilator; but he is being tested today to take him off the ventilator.  He has continued to run a fever, so he had a CT scan and a spinal tap (lumbar puncture, or LP) yesterday to check for infections.  There were no early indications of serious infection, but all the test results won't be back for a few days.  These tests took so long to get done that the breathing tests planned for yesterday were postponed until today.

Robert's bilirubin and GGT are up slightly today.  This could be because Robert got blood yesterday, and because he has not been fed in the last 24 hours in preparation for his tube coming out.  The good news is his kidney functions are good, and his bowels seem to be in good shape.

Best regards,

Mark
