Jewel of the Amazon started 2007 in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. We offer beautiful jewelry made by a women's group in Bolivia from seeds and natural elements from throughout South America. The company's goal is to offer a quality, sustainably produced jewelry that provides a source of income and capacity-building for emerging women artisans in Bolivia.
Jewel of the Amazon protects the environment by using renewable resources (seeds) to make jewelry. Collecting seeds provides a sustainable alternative to using wood, since harvesting the seeds does not damage the trees of the rain forest. Acai and coconut are harvested in South America to make drinks and the unused parts provide raw materials for the jewelry we craft.
Deforestation in the Amazon is a global problem and buying seed jewelry contributes to the solution.
